About us
We’re a family-run and fully independent riverside tapas restaurant at the Southbank Centre directly overlooking The River Thames.
From the family behind Applebee’s in Borough Market, we pride ourselves on our offering of high-quality, seasonal produce with a Spanish twist at La Gamba.
Our head chef, Juan, specialises in cuisine from his hometown in Galicia, on the Atlantic coast. Seafood and produce from this region in Spain is widely considered some of the freshest in the world.
We’re proud to showcase dishes that spotlight simple, high-quality ingredients, prepared the Spanish way, using the best of seasonal British produce.
Choose from one of our distinct seating areas: our lively terrace which is heated and covered directly overlooking the River Thames, bar seating and low tables in the main dining room area.

We offer a set menu for those looking for a pre-theatre bite, full à la carte and a children’s menu. For larger bookings, we can work with you to create something bespoke and tailored to suit your needs.
Planning a group event or Christmas party? We have a large space that is perfect for bigger group bookings, but which can also be used to create intimate spaces for groups and parties of all sizes.
We welcome parties from 6 to 80+ guests, with options to join our regular service, semi-private or full venue hire.

Group + Winter Bookings
New Years Eve
It feels extra special to be able to open up our doors for the third year to large groups and parties of all sizes that are looking to join us in seeing out 2025 with a bang!
Given our direct access to the River Thames, you and your guests would have a front-row view of the official Mayor of London’s New Year’s Eve Fireworks (weather permitting), before which we’ll kick off the night with welcome drinks followed by our four-course meal served alongside a DJ.
Tickets are £250 per person and includes all of the above plus champagne at midnight. Demand was extremely high last year so use the link below to secure your spot before they run out!
